Biography

Angela Lawrence exhibits widely, as well as at her gallery, Clience Studio in South West Scotland, throughout the year. She holds a Finnish Arts Council Award, received a Creative Scotland and Dumfries and Galloway Visual Arts award for her “Sea Spirits” series and has featured in various publications as well as a BBC programme. Angela has led workshops and painting demonstrations, and taken part in a public lecture series for Glasgow University and Spring Fling. Exhibitions have included at the Royal Scottish Academy of Art, Edinburgh; Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Art; Paisley Art Institute; Visual Arts Scotland; Affordable Art Fair, London; The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle; Gracefield Art Centre, Dumfries; Compass Gallery, Gatehouse Gallery, and John Green Fine Art, Glasgow. Gullane Gallery; Torrance Gallery and Colours Gallery Edinburgh; Galerie Artlibre Spain; Carelicum Museum and the Joensuu Art Museum in Finland. Angela also works to commission for public institutions and individuals.
Angela lives and paints in Scotland, but was born in London and lived in Finland for many years. She has always painted but her training has principally been as a musician: before becoming a full-time artist, in 2004, she was a professional violinist who working freelance in London orchestras and full-time in the Joensuu City Orchestra in Finland.
